Christopher J. Scott represents a variety of different clients in many areas of the law. He has experience handling professional liability matters, trucking liability issues, first- and third-party automobile cases, premises liability matters, construction law matters, insurance coverage issues, commercial disputes, probate disputes, and product liability cases.

Representative Client Work

  • Secured defense verdicts in federal court jury trials concerning claims of excessive force, deliberate interference with medical needs, and lack of training.

  • Achieved a defense verdict in a no-fault fraud case where the plaintiff demanded $14.25 million.

  • Attained summary disposition for a large tree service company in cases involving trespass and negligence claims.

  • Negotiated a favorable settlement for a lender (loan of $3 million) following a three-day trial in U.S. Bankruptcy Court.

  • Obtained summary disposition in various third-party automobile negligence matters across Michigan.

  • Achieved a no-cause verdict following a nine-day jury trial in a paramedic malpractice case involving a patient's death.

  • Acted as lead counsel in a complex fraud insurance coverage dispute in federal district court.

  • Successfully defended general and subcontractors in multiple construction site cases.

  • Secured summary disposition in several product liability cases involving significant injury and exposure.

  • Obtained dismissals in favor of insurance companies in cases where plaintiffs fraudulently applied for insurance.

  • Achieved dismissal in favor of a subcontractor in a construction defect property damage case with alleged damages exceeding $12.5 million.

  • Successfully defended an insurance company in a first-party no-fault priority dispute; the appellate court reversed the trial court's ruling, resulting in reimbursement of over $200,000.

  • Successfully reversed a trial court ruling in favor of an insurance company in an uninsured motorist claim, resulting in dismissal of all claims against the client.
